Welcome to the September to October edition of Citylife.

We've had a bit of good news since the last edition.  Ten of our parks have won Green Flag Awards.

This issue also sees children all over the city going back to school, some for the first time.  Our feature on the first day of school gives parents advice about what to expect and we've asked grown ups to remember their first day.

We also have the Great North Run taking place on the 19 September.  The city will be full of runners and their supporters that weekend, creating a great atmosphere for locals and those who have travelled to take part.

And our first book festival is taking place on the weekend of the 6 to 7 October.  You can meet and hear some local authors talk about their books and how they right them.  We've got an interview with former Newcastle policeman and local crime writer, Graham Pears too.
